Types of Siding

When it comes to the exterior of your home, one of the first things people will notice is the siding. Siding protects your home from the elements while adding visual appeal.

There are many different types of siding on the market, and each has its own set of benefits and drawbacks. In this blog post, we'll explore some of the most popular types of siding so you can make an informed decision about what's right for your home.

Vinyl

In recent years,
vinyl siding has become one of the most popular choices for homeowners due to its many benefits. It is easy to install and by far one of the most affordable options, making it a great choice for budget-conscious homeowners.

Vinyl siding is also very low maintenance. It does not require paint or other treatments to keep it looking like new. You can simply wash it with soap and water when it gets dirty.

In addition, vinyl siding is very durable and can last for many years. It is resistant to rot, insects, and weather damage. It can crack or dent if hit by a heavy object—but, the good news is that if a panel does become damaged, it is easy to replace without affecting the rest of the siding.

And if the list of benefits wasn’t already long enough, vinyl siding is available in a wide range of colors and styles. So you’ll definitely be able to find something that appeals to you!

Fiber Cement

Fiber cement siding is a popular choice for eco-conscious homeowners because it is made from a mixture of cement and wood fibers. It's a durable option that can mimic the look of traditional wood without any of the drawbacks of wood siding.

Nonetheless, fiber cement siding is more expensive than other types of siding, and it's also heavier, making it more difficult to install. James Hardie fiber cement siding is considered the gold standard of siding today. Central Exteriors is a certified installer of James Hardie products and we can help you design a beautiful exterior for your home.

Wood

If you’re looking for a classic siding option that will never go out of style, wood siding is still available. Wood siding can give your home a traditional look that can be customized to fit your personal style.

However, wood siding does require more maintenance than other types of siding, and it can be susceptible to rot and insect damage if not properly cared for. If you choose wood siding for your home, be prepared to paint or stain it every few years in order to protect it from the elements.  Due to the drawbacks and maintenance required, Central Exteriors does not install wood siding.

Stucco

Stucco siding is made from Portland cement, sand, water, and lime. It's a popular choice in warm climates because it helps keep homes cool by reflecting sunlight. Stucco siding is also fire-resistant.

On the other hand, stucco does have its drawbacks. It's a heavy material that can be difficult to install and repair if it becomes damaged. Plus, it’s not as environmentally friendly as other types of siding.  Stucco siding requires an installation that is far different than all of the other types of siding on this list. For that reason, it is not one of the siding products that Central installs.

Give Your Home the Curb Appeal It Deserves

When it comes to choosing siding for your home, there are many factors to consider. Do you want a material that’s easy to maintain? Or one that’s more eco-friendly? Maybe you’re looking for a certain aesthetic. Whatever your top priority is, there’s sure to be a type of siding that fits the bill.
