This Potomac, MD estate showcases a premium roofing installation designed for a luxury residential property with an intricate, multi-wing roofline. Central Exteriors completed a full roof replacement, beginning with the removal of the existing roofing system before installing new underlayment, ice and water shield, and Brava Cedar Shake in Aged Cedar with a 10-inch exposure. The project included detailed flashing work around multiple dormers, chimneys, ridges, hips, and intersecting valleys, requiring experienced crews to carefully sequence the installation across the steep roof sections. Selected for its authentic cedar appearance, exceptional durability, and low-maintenance performance, Brava synthetic shake provides the timeless character of natural wood without the ongoing upkeep. The completed roof enhances the estate's architectural elegance while delivering long-lasting protection suited to the high standards of Potomac's luxury homes.

This project involved the full replacement of the roof on a large residential estate in Potomac, Maryland. The property is a multi-wing brick manor with a complex roofline — multiple intersecting pitches, decorative dormers, chimneys, and steep elevations that required scaffolding and careful crew positioning throughout the installation. 


The homeowner specified Brava Cedar Shake in Aged Cedar, installed at 10-inch exposure.

All photography was captured by drone, which allowed us to document both the full scope of the property and the detail of the installation in a way that ground-level photography would not have captured.

Brava Cedar Shake is a synthetic roofing product manufactured to replicate the profile and texture of hand-split cedar shake. The Aged Cedar colorway is a variegated blend that mimics naturally weathered cedar — a look that suited the character of the estate and the surrounding Potomac neighborhood.

The 10-inch exposure specification was chosen to balance the aesthetic scale of the shake against the roof pitches on this property. On a smaller home, standard exposure would read differently — at 10 inches on a roof of this size and pitch, the coursework scales proportionally and reads correctly from ground level and from the air.

The complexity of this roof — specifically the dormers, the multiple valley intersections, and the steep upper sections — required experienced crews working in sequence across the different zones of the structure. The drone photography captured the installation in stages, showing the progression from tear-off through underlayment to partial and full Brava installation


Potomac is a market where roofing material selection is a deliberate decision. Homeowners in this area are generally choosing between premium options, and the durability and maintenance profile of synthetic shake versus real cedar is a relevant consideration.
