Hardie Plank Siding Transformation

Following a garage fire that damaged one side of this Silver Spring, MD home, the homeowners chose to invest in a complete exterior transformation rather than a partial repair. Central Exteriors removed the original white beaded vinyl siding and installed premium James Hardie HardiePlank Lap Siding in Country Lane Red across the entire home. The project also included aluminum trim capping for the fascias, rakes, soffits, and window surrounds, along with new 6-inch seamless gutters featuring Leaf Relief gutter protection. Proper housewrap and a weather-resistant barrier were installed before the new siding to ensure lasting performance. The result is a striking, low-maintenance exterior with rich color, crisp white trim, and the durability of fiber cement—an excellent example of a premium siding upgrade for an upper-middle-class residential property.

This project began following a garage fire that damaged one side of the home. While the damage was isolated to the garage, the homeowner decided to use the opportunity to address the full exterior — removing the original white beaded vinyl siding that had been on the house for years and replacing it with a fiber cement product throughout.


Central Exteriors completed the full re-side of the home, including new trim capping on all fascias, rakes, soffits, and windows, along with new 6-inch gutters with Leaf Relief gutter protection.

The scope covered the full perimeter of the home — not just the fire-damaged garage section. Proper housewrap and weather-resistant barrier installation was completed prior to siding. 


All trim details, including window surrounds and corner boards, were capped with aluminum for a clean, low-maintenance finish that ties the Country Lane Red siding together with crisp white trim throughout.


The contrast between the original white vinyl and the finished product is significant — Country Lane Red gives the home a distinctly different character while the quality of the fiber cement substrate ensures the installation will hold up far better than the original material over time.
